Predator: Hunting Grounds Parry | How to perform

The Predator: Hunting Grounds parry is a tricky move. You not only have to predict when the Predator will attack, but you’ll also need to be blazing fast to actually pull it off. It’ll test your reflexes and ability to predict. But how do you do it and what does it do?

Predator: Hunting Grounds Parry | How to perform

In order to perform a parry in Predator: Hunting Grounds, you’ll need to be able to quickly tap the melee button when the Predator is swinging at you with his big ol’ stick, claws, or probably most of the melee weapons. You’ll notice the melee button prompt flash every so quickly before he clubs you (which is quite tiny by default, as you can see in the above picture). You almost have to press the melee button before he even swings because of how fast it is. If you wait for the Predator melee animation or just the prompt, you’re almost guaranteed to miss it and take a blade to the face.

ALSO: Is Predator: Hunting Grounds crossplay?

You also might have to be really close to each other to get it to work. It doesn’t seem to work as well from far away. You might not have to close, but the prompt doesn’t seem to pop up if you’re farther away (although whether or not you need to see the prompt also seems nebulous). Besides, it is a melee attack so you’ll have to be somewhat close anyway.

If you’ve done it correctly, you’ll hear a “ting” like two pieces of metal hitting before usually seeing an animation of the human with their knife out, as the picture below demonstrates. The Predator will also slightly falter backwards.

The parry in Predator: Hunting Grounds does a few things. It knocks the Predator back and stuns him for just a second. A successful parry will also negate most of the damage for the human. You’ll take only a few ticks of damage instead the full brunt of it.
