Is Predator: Hunting Grounds coming to Xbox One?

Predator: Hunting Grounds has finally released for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game allows you to live out your 80’s action-flick fantasies — you know, the one where you assume control over an immensely powerful alien being. Loads of players are jumping in on the fun, but it looks like one demographic is left out in the cold: Xbox One users. Is Predator: Hunting Grounds coming to Xbox One, or is this another case of platform exclusivity?

Will Predator: Hunting Grounds come to Xbox One?

There are currently no plans to bring Predator: Hunting Grounds to the Xbox One. In fact, it’s very unlikely that it will ever release for an Xbox console. That’s because the game is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, which typically deals in PlayStation-exclusive games.

Given that information, you may be wondering why Predator: Hunting Grounds is available for PC. The answer is simple: SIE struck a deal with Epic Games to release it for the Epic Games Store. While this is something of a rare circumstance, it’s not without precedent: Sony Interactive Entertainment has published at least five other games that eventually made their way to personal computers. These notably include Helldivers, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and Guns Up — all games which originally launched as PlayStation exclusives.

We’re usually inclined to never say never, but it does not seem like Sony would ever allow Predator: Hunting Grounds to release for a Microsoft console. Of the aforementioned games that eventually made their way to PC, not a single one ever released for Xbox. If the new Illfonic game did come to Xbox One, it would be the first game to do so in 25 years of Sony Interactive Entertainment publishing.

In a nutshell, Predator: Hunting Grounds will never come to Xbox One or any other Microsoft console. Sony Interactive Entertainment has publishing rights, and it’s almost certainly not going to offer the game to its competitor. Sorry, Xbox fans: If you want to check out Hunting Grounds, you’ll have to play it on PC or buy yourself a PlayStation 4.
