The Call of Duty franchise is in the midst of a series-wide revival. Shortly after the recent Modern Warfare remake launched, fans were told that Modern Warfare 2 was also getting remastered. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has already released for the PlayStation 4, and now it’s gearing up for its launch on Xbox One as well as the PC. Here’s everything you need to know about the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Xbox One release date.
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered | Xbox One release date and time
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will release for Xbox One and PC on April 30, 2020. The game is currently slated to launch at midnight Eastern time or 6 p.m. BST, and pre-load options are available right this moment. If you want to start playing immediately, it’d be wise to start the 45GB download now before the game opens up to the public.

As planned, the April 30 release date follows a full month of PlayStation 4 exclusivity. And, as PS4 users already know, the main draw to Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is the entire single-player campaign from the original 2009 release. As usual, the remastered version comes complete with updated graphics and animation. Just to be clear, we’ll say it again: MW2 Remastered doesn’t include any sort of multiplayer offering; it’s campaign-only.
Of course, if you want to play Call of Duty online, you’d probably be more interested in something like Warzone, the new free-to-play battle royale from Infinity Ward. In a sense, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is for those who don’t much care for online play — or for past series fans who want a solid dose of nostalgia. It’s also a fair bit cheaper than the 2019 Modern Warfare release, being priced at $19.99.
The wait is nearly over: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered hits Xbox One and PC on April 30. If you’re hungry to jump into the action, be sure to start the pre-load as soon as possible to avoid long download times.
