Can students get a free iPad in 2020?

Who doesn’t want a free iPad? I’d love one, cheers Apple! As the tech has improved, iPads have become more and more versatile, even able to replace laptops for many people. This could include students, provided the price is right and the investment seems worthwhile. Apple has long offered student discounts on many of its products, but what about totally free iPad? Here’s your answer to “Can a student get a free iPad in 2020?”

Unfortunately, the answer is no. However, it’s not all doom and gloom as Apple does offer its “Apple Education Pricing” to “current newly accepted college students and their parents, as well as faculty, staff, and homeschool teachers of all grade levels.”

It’s also worth mentioning that Apple recently partnered with Ontario, Canada to supply 21,000 iPads to students in need (via Macrumors.com). These iPads have “free wireless data and will help students from low income families continue their learning safely at home during this pandemic.”

It’s possible that Apple will work with other areas to bring free iPad to more students, though it’s currently a very rare occurrence.

If you had heard about students receiving free iPads and googled to see if you were in with a chance of securing one for yourself, then unless you’re in a supported area, you’re out of luck.

On the bright side, at least Apple is still offering its Apple Education Pricing to students, making those premium products a little less expensive. There are a wide range of products discounted for students, their parents, and educational staff.

For now, only very few students get access to free iPads from Apple in 2020. Perhaps this will change in the future. We’ll be sure to update this article with any developments.
