DayZ has been out for over a year and a half, and its fanbase is still active to this day. However, there’s one feature that the development team at Bohemia Interactive still hasn’t given much information about: cross-play. This has been a frequent player request throughout its development period, which perfect makes sense — not everyone plays the game on the same platform. Does DayZ have cross-platform play in 2020, or is this another modern-era touch that has gone overlooked?
Is DayZ cross-platform in 2020?
DayZ does not have cross-platform play, even in 2020. Despite numerous requests for the feature, the development team has not introduced cross-play into DayZ. At this rate, it’s possible that the game will never have the option to play across multiple platforms.

Why hasn’t Bohemia Interactive’s survival game been given cross-play? Unfortunately, without hearing from the developers themselves, there’s no way of knowing. With that said, players speculate that getting platforms such as PC, PS4, and Xbox One to work together would be a monumental task that ultimately wouldn’t be worth the effort.
It’s also possible that the intense PC development period for DayZ has something to do with this feature’s omission. The game spent about five years in early access, with development first starting around 2012. After making its formal PC debut in 2018, the developers took several more months before releasing it for Xbox One and PS4 in March and May of 2019, respectively. Since the game spent so much time being developed for PC, it’s possible that the final product just doesn’t have the proper framework for cross-play between PC and consoles.
Sorry, folks: DayZ does not have cross-platform play, and perhaps it never will. We won’t know for sure until the developers outright confirm or deny the possibility. But considering that it still doesn’t have cross-play in 2020, most fans by now believe that the feature will never be implemented.
