Is there a Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Switch release date?

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Switch

As of writing, there is no Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Switch release date. We simply don’t know if the game will ever release on Nintendo’s hybrid console. Right now, though, we’d argue that is is unlikely, but theoretically possible. It could eventually release on the Switch, but don’t get your hopes up.

ALSO: Fake PS5 and game ‘leaks’ are cleverly being used to support Black Lives Matter

According to SegmentNext, a THQ Nordic representative said (when queried) on a potential Switch version that they “couldn’t comment on it,” adding that “the Switch [is] a very unique system and very limited.” This doesn’t fill us with hope regarding a potential Nintendo Switch port of the Kingdoms of Amalur remaster. While not wishing to comment on it could lead to some hopeful nods towards an eventual Switch version, it doesn’t sound as though the development team has considered the machine.

Calling the Switch a “unique” but “very limited” console suggests that the publishers do not wish to release a visually downgraded version of the game on the Switch. Given that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning comes bolstered with new and improved visuals over the original, perhaps the Switch isn’t up to the task of running the game without serious compromise.

Ultimately, however, we’ll have to wait and see. While a port of the game seems unlikely on the Switch, stranger things have happened for sure. Time will tell if the Switch gets a version of Kingdoms of Amalur. For now, though, you’ll have to make do with playing the game on PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
