What with all the hype surrounding the next-gen consoles going around, we thought we’d try and answer at least one burning question: “Will Apex Legends be on PS5 and Xbox Series X?” Read on to find out if there will be an Apex Legends PS5 and/or Apex Legends Xbox Series X release date. Find out below if EA and Respawn’s popular battle royale will make its way onto the next-gen consoles or not.
Is there an Apex Legends PS5 and Xbox Series X release date?
As of writing, Apex Legends has not been confirmed for either the PS5 or Xbox Series X. We do think the game will release on both the next-gen consoles, however. We can say this based on other similar games confirmed to be getting the next-gen treatment such as Fortnite and Destiny 2. An Apex Legends PS5 and Xbox Series X release will likely happen, we’re just waiting for the official announcement.

Back in January, we explained how EA had “plans for new platforms” in 2020 for Apex Legends. While this could be talking about a potential port to the Nintendo Switch or a mobile version of the game, we would be surprised if Apex Legends doesn’t release on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Back in May 2020 (thanks, Dexerto), too, Respawn filed for a job listing for someone to “push next-generation platforms and the PC to their limits on Apex.” This job listing all-but confirmed a next-gen release of Apex Legends.
It very much seems as though we are simply waiting for an official confirmation at this point. At the very least, though, both the Series X and PS5 are backward compatible. Apex Legends should work on both next-gen machines without any trouble. It’s time to wait and see if (see: when) EA confirms a next-gen release of Apex Legends. For now, we’ll have to make do with our pitiful current-gen.
