How to catch the gigas giant clam in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons gigas giant clam is a sea creature that’s available to catch in the Nintendo Switch game’s latest update. This giant clam in Animal Crossing can be difficult to get your hands on, with it being one of the most valuable sea creatures added to the game. So how do you catch the gigas giant clam in Animal Crossing?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | How to catch the gigas giant clam

The gigas giant clam can be caught after you’ve purchased a diving suit from Nook’s Cranny. You can then swim in the sea (press A near it) and start diving (press Y while in the sea).

After diving, you’ll be able to catch sea creatures. To do this, you must swim towards the shadows on the ocean floor. These shadows will be indicated by bubbles appearing on the sea surface. You will automatically dive for and catch one of the sea creatures after swimming above its shadow.

Gigas giant clam shadow size

The gigas giant clam’s shadow size is described as huge and very fast, similar to the vampire squid. This means that you’ll need to swim quickly if you want to catch up with it, and you should keep an eye out for any particularly large sea creature shadows on your hunt for it.

Gigas giant clam time, month, and price

The gigas giant clam will only appear during certain months for different hemispheres. Here are the times and months in which you’ll be able to catch the clam:

  • Time: All day

The gigas giant clam is also one of the most expensive sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with you able to sell it for a whopping 15,000 Bells. You can sell the giant clam at Nook’s Cranny, or you can hand it over to Blathers in order for it to be displayed in your island’s museum.
