Tales of Xillia 2 Character Guide

Character Guide

Ludger Kresnik

Description

Ludger lives with his elder brother, Julius, in an apartment in Triglpeh. Calm, but impetuous, and not to mention one hell of a cook, he yearns to follow in his brother's footsteps and become an agent of the illustrious Spirius Corporation, but fate has other plans for him. Due to a chance encounter, Ludger meets Elle Marta and swears to protect her on her journey to a mystical place known as “The Land of Canaan,” which is said to grant wishes. Throughout his journey, will the choices Ludger makes lead the world to salvation... or certain destruction?

Combat

As the protagonist of the game, Ludger is a jack-of-all-trades. He can swaps between three different weapons – duals swords, a sledgehammer, and dual pistols – all of which work well against different enemy types. Focus on one weapon, get used to it, and then move on to the next. In no time you'll be pulling off multi-weapon combos and taking down enemies with ease. Try to learn the intricies of each weapon though. For example, the dual sword provide less defense while the dual pistols decrease Ludger's agility.

Jude Mathis

Description

Much has changed for Jude in the past year. In a world where the schism – which previously divided the worlds of Rieze Maxia and Elympios – has been dispelled at last, Jude toils endlessly in his research of spyrite: an alternative energy source which could replace spyrix and solve Elympios' energy crisis without the expense of the spirits. If he could perfect it, spyrite could be the key to eliminating the tension between the two worlds and truly uniting their people once and for all – but there are those that would try to stop him.

Combat

Jude uses fisticuffs for battle, but he also has healing artes that make him a very beneficial ally. His agility has been toned down from the first game, but he can still get around the battlefield and works will in sync with Ludger.

Leia Rolando

Description

Leia has always been energetic and inquisitive, and this nature of hers has led her to become a reporter for a local newspaper in Elympios, as she aims to promote cultural understanding between the two nations through the articles she writes. Her editor isn't so easily impressed, however, and she works hard endlessly in pursuit of a story that'll warm him up to her writing. For better or for worse though, she may get the scoop of a lifetime sooner than she thinks.

Combat

Leia is much like Jude in that she can attack and heal, though Jude is more suited for the latter ability. She's not a great combo character but she did get some new artes in the second game which are quite useful.

Rowen Ilbert

Description

Rowen is intelligent and charming, but don't let it fool you. He is an incredible and cunning tactician. Since the dispelling of the schism, he has become the newly appointed Prime Minister of Rieze Maxia, and heads to Elympios in order to promote peace and mutual goodwill between the two nations. But not everyone sees eye to eye with him on the subject on the peace treaty... and there are those who would try to eliminate Rowen to ensure it does not come to pass.

Combat

Rowen is all about magical arts, which can be especially powerful against some enemy types. This means he's not great in close-range encounters, but as long as he hangs back he'll deal a lot of damage. His character skill is auto-magic guard, which raises a shield when an enemy begins to cast magic.

Alvin

Description

Once a spy, the confident and brash Alvin has turned over a new leaf and struggles to lead a simple, honest life as a salesman. With his friend Yurgen, they forge a partnership in a business enterprise together... but as Alvin soon learns, there's nothing easy about living an honest life. Will he remain true to the straight and narrow path he has chosen? Or will his shady past inevitably catch up with him?

Elize Lutus

Description

Once demure and painfully shy, Elize has warmed up considerably after the events of the first game and is more willing to trust others. However, she still looks for her own place in society, and yearns for companionship and acceptance from her peers. She eventually finds it in the form of her pen pal, Luna, but there may be more to her newfound friend than meets the eye.

Milla

Description

Having fulfilled her mission at last, Milla disappears for a time only for the party to reunite with her in Nia Khera. Her usually stern and overly mature demeanor seems to have changed, however, and seems more stubborn and oddly childish compared to how she was before. Perhaps all the time she spent around humans in combination with her recent life experiences have changed her, but then again, there may be more to the story.

Gaius

Description

Following the union of the two worlds after the schism was dispelled, Gaius is now the first king of all Rieze Maxia. With Rowen at his side, he seeks to promote diplomatic relations between Rashugal, Auj Oule, and Elympios. Stern and cold though he may appear, Gaius cares deeply for his subjects, and lives amongst them as a commoner using his real name: Erston Outway. But on the front lines of the troubles that face his people, even a king isn't truly safe. Does Gaius have what it takes to bring his nation and Elympios together, or will he fall before those who seek to stop it?

Muzet

Description

Muzet once lived in the spirit realm, but returned to the human realm to carry out her duty. Thanks to the kindness of her sister, Milla, she now has a much more docile, gentle personality – though she'll still flip like a switch if tested. She longs for acceptance from her compatriots and works hard to earn their trust... but her need to fit in may drive her a little too far.
