Following a tease from Nintendo, players are eager to learn the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween update release date. We’ve had confirmation that the All Hallows’ Eve ACNH event is coming via a free patch; when exactly can we expect Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch to get spooky, though? Stick around for the latest information.
What is the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween update release date?
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween update release date is scheduled for sometime during fall. If we had to guess, we’d estimate October 1-31 with the main event taking place on the final day of the month.
In past Animal Crossing games, including ACNH predecessor New Leaf, the Halloween season kicked off on October 1. In order to mark the beginning of the scariest month of the year, an NPC with a pumpkin head would pay players a special visit. Jack (Czar of Halloween) would recruit players to return on October 31 and scare their villagers while wearing a terrifying costume.
Throughout the month of October, while waiting to scare the pants of residents, players could purchase a variety of Halloween masks from the Able Sisters in preparation for the big day. When the day came, villagers would chase the player on sight and trick or treat them. Handing over candy would earn information on how to scare villages, then following those leads would earn the player lollipops. Lollipops could be traded with Jack for unique Halloween furniture and items.
Whether or not New Horizons will follow the same or a similar formula remains to be seen. Based on the series’ past form and the structuring of prior ACNH events, however, we’d estimate a month-long event concluding on Halloween night (October 31).
There’s still plenty to look forward to until the ACNH Halloween update comes around. Summer Update Wave 2 is set to introduce firework displays, island recovery, and Luna starting later this month.
