The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.4.0 update is hitting consoles now. This isn’t a massive update, but the patch notes to include some exciting new features, including one that fans have been asking for since the game released. That’s right; you can finally back up your island with cloud saving if you’re subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online.

A few seasonal things have been added with the 1.4.0 update. There’s no major event occurring in-game, but players can get festive all the same with the new Fireworks Shows.
Nook Shopping is also getting an update with the addition of new items. These seasonal items will only be available for a limited time, so you’ll want to pick them up ASAP.

A small feature has been added to the NookPhone Camera app in Animal Crossing: New Horizons update 1.4.0. You can now turn off the on-screen guide information when using the app by pressing in on the right stick.
A minor bug has been fixed with this patch as well. Funny Glasses now match play skin color variations. Other than that specific issue, Nintendo noted, “other adjustments were made to improve the gameplay experience.”

Players can now sleep in a bed and meet Luna. They can then upload the ensuing dream via the internet or visit other uploaded dream islands. You can also now search the Custom Design Portal by design name or type and favorite creators.
This most significant feature the 1.4.0 patch brings to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though, is the ability to save your island to the cloud. Players have been clamoring to store their islands online safely, and now you finally can. However, there are some caveats.
To backup your island to the cloud, you need to be subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online. You’re also restricted from transferring your island to another console. This feature will come at a later date. You also can’t restore save data at will. You must contact Nintendo Support if your system is lost or broken or if your save is corrupted to restore your island.
