Hellpoint Black Hole Clock

Hellpoint Black Hole Clock | What is the circular HUD symbol for?

The Black Hole Clock in Hellpoint is one of the game’s unique features. While the game very closely follows the typical Souls-like formula, it adds a clock you can see in the upper-left part of the UI. Hellpoint doesn’t really go out of its way to describe the Black Hole Clock mechanic. You’ll probably be confused as to what the circular object on your HUD even does at the start of the game.

How does the Black Hole Clock work in Hellpoint?

Hellpoint How the Black Hole Clock Works

Very shortly after starting Hellpoint, you’ll come to a room with a large window looking out into space. If you peer through it at the right time, you’ll notice that the space station you’re on is orbiting a giant black hole. The Black Hole Clock tracks this orbit and is crucial to understanding how the passage of time affects the station.

The yellow circle on the Black Hole Clock tracks the current time. When it reaches specific points on the clock, one of two events will occur:

  • Hell Hour Time
  • Black Hole Hour

Hell Hour

During the two Hell Hours per day, you can open the transparent orange walls you find throughout the station. The rooms beyond will trigger horde events that lock you in and pit you against a mass of enemies. If you win, you’ll get powerful rewards.

Enemy mobs also can change during Hell Hour. You’ll find more minibosses and powerful enemies scattered around the station, even near the start of the game.

Black Hole Hour

During Black Hole Hour, you can open the yellow walls scattered throughout the station. Some of these doors can just be approached and opened, but others require you to aim the Black Hole light using the rings in the Arcology sector of the station.

Note that the time in which the Black Hole Hour occurs can differ between different areas of the station. Keep that in mind if you’re traveling towards a yellow wall in a different sector, so you don’t get stuck waiting.
