Knowing how to raid in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the most Viking things you can do in the entire game. However, it can be a little obtuse, given the few ways players can initiate a raid. Here’s how to start a raid in ACV.
How to raid in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
There are two different ways to raid: by boat and by land. Both are ostensibly the same thing but activated in different ways.
How to raid by boat
To raid in the longship, Eivor will obviously need to jump in the longship. The longship can be found at the Ravensthorpe settlement or can be summoned by holding down on the D-pad and using the bottom left option to summon the ship.
Once in the longship, point it to the monastery or camp. Once upon its shores, there will be yellow circles around the water with small beams coming out of them. Pull up somewhat near one of those and a prompt should pop up. Pressing Triangle on PlayStation and Y on Xbox will start the raid, which is kicked off with Eivor’s loud horn.
Sometimes the prompt will appear but be grayed out, saying the that Eivor needs to pull up to a shore. To fix that, just find a place where the water meets sand or dirt and the prompt should work again. The raiders need a place to get out at, after all, and a rocky shore will stop them from doing that. The raid is complete when all big wealth icons have been cleared.
How to raid by land
To start a raid by land without the boat, press and hold down on the D-pad when inside the raiding area (it will say “Distrust Area” on the top of the screen with an orange-ish hue). Go to the top left with to the icon with two axes that says “Start Raid.” This will have Eivor pull out their horn and blow, summoning the ship.
The raiders will take a bit to get there, but it is relatively instant. Players do not need to think about where the boat will pull up and they don’t need to summon the boat first at all. It just happens automatically. This approach is for those who may want to do some sneaking and recon before calling the crew. Like raiding from the sea, the raid counts as finished when all big wealth chests have been opened.
