While Spider-Man: Miles Morales is mostly full of heroics and saving people, there is still a major character death. At least, it looks like this character died. For those that have beaten the game on PS4 or PS5, scroll on for the answers. Everybody else: there are big SPOILERS ahead, so be wary!
Did Phin die in Spider-Man: Miles Morales?
Following the climactic battle against Miles, Phin has a change of heart. The enemy that was the Tinkerer reverts back to Phin, the longtime friend of Miles, and she helps him stop the Roxxon reactor from exploding and destroying Harlem.
Phin dies at the end of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. She carries Miles and the Nuform canister high into the sky above Harlem. It explodes and only Miles falls from the sky.
While Phin does appear to die, players aren’t explicitly shown her death onscreen. As is often seen in superhero movies, no onscreen death can lead to a twist where the character returns.
As the Tinkerer, Phin is probably able to survive the huge fall to the ground after the explosion. She has gadgets that allow her to mimic Spider-Man’s aerial abilities and even overpowers him in combat. If the explosion didn’t kill her, then she likely would have survived the fall.
It’s the same case with Rhino, as it appears that Phin is able to finish him off before Miles can stop her. Again, it’s unconfirmed by the game’s end and, as a key villain, it’s unlikely that he’d lose his life so unceremoniously.
