The Sims 4 Nintendo Switch Release

Will The Sims come to Nintendo Switch? | Is The Sims 4 releasing on Switch?

The Sims on Nintendo Switch seems like a perfect match. It’s an easy game to pick up and put down, and it’s not a graphical powerhouse, so the Switch should have no issues running it. Given how much sense it makes, fans want to know if there’ll ever be a The Sims Switch release date.

Will The Sims come out on Switch?

The Sims 4 Switch Release Date

The latest version of the franchise, The Sims 4, came out on the PC in late 2014. It was exclusive to computers for three years after launch, but in November 2017, PS4 and Xbox One versions were released. Given that EA is willing to release The Sims on consoles, one would think a Switch version is in the works.

However, there does seem to some bad blood between Nintendo and EA. Despite having an agreement with Nintendo to develop games for the Wii U, EA snubbed them when the console didn’t sell well. Adding insult to injury, according to Kotaku an EA Sports senior software engineer tweeted, “The Wii U is crap,” and “Nintendo are walking dead at this point.”

When asked whether The Sims would release on Nintendo Switch in 2019, EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated:

“We have a lot of data that would suggest a great many Switch owners also own a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One or a PC, and very often choose to play the games that we make on those platforms, even though they have a Switch and they enjoy a lot of great content on the Switch.”

The above quote seems to fly in the face of the fact that many ports to the Switch, including Doom and The Witcher 3, have sold well and been met with enthusiasm.

So far, EA hasn’t supported the Switch that well, with less than ten games from its studios making it to the platform. With all that in mind, The Sims might release on the Nintendo Switch at some point, but the chances seem slim that it’ll happen.
