Epic Games releases a ton of Fortnite updates and patches all of the time. This helps to keep the game interesting and running smoothly, though grabbing the latest version isn’t always simple. Those lucky enough to own an Xbox Series X or Series S console can attest to this. So, here’s how to update Fortnite on Xbox Series X|S the easy way in 2021.
Fortnite: How to download updates on Xbox Series X|S (2021)
Here’s how to update Fortnite on Xbox Series X|S via the easy manual method:
- Turn on the Xbox Series X|S console
- Select “My games & apps” from the Xbox home screen
- Scroll down to “Manage,” then select “Updates”
- Choose Fortnite from the list to start updating
The Fortnite game update will now download and install on the Xbox Series X|S console. If Fortnite doesn’t appear in the list of updatable games, players are most likely running the current version. When the latest patch is already in place, no Fortnite Xbox Series X|S updates will appear in the list by design.
If there should definitely be a new update that isn’t appearing in the list, try rebooting the Xbox Series X|S to refresh this section. In order to do so, hold the Xbox button > Restart console > RESTART.
Fortnite updates can differ wildly in size and scale, which results in different download file sizes. The last two patches are a good example of this; Invasion brought sweet new content to the table, whereas the follow-up patch was smaller and far less exciting. In theory, this could also impact how long a Fortnite update takes to push out on Xbox Series X|S. Try to be patient if it’s taking longer than usual, and perhaps even step away for a few hours before coming back for another attempt later.
