Is there a Death Stranding PS5 upgrade for anyone who owns the PS4 version? Is there a Death Stranding Director’s Cut upgrade for PS4 players with the regular or Deluxe Edition versions? There may not be a Death Stranding Director’s Cut PS4 or PC release, but it is confirmed that there will be a proper Death Stranding PS4 to PS5 upgrade. Here are all the details on how to get the Death Stranding Director’s Cut PS5 upgrade for PS4 game owners.
How to get the Death Stranding PS5 upgrade to the Director’s Cut
Anyone who owns the PS4 version of Death Stranding can indeed get the Director’s Cut via a PS5 upgrade, rather than having to buy the whole game again. To get the upgrade:
- PS5 owners who have bought the digital version of Death Stranding can simply go to the Director’s Cut store page, login with their PSN details, and be able to purchase a Director’s Cut PS5 upgrade for $10 rather than the full product.
- PS5 owners who have the PS4 disc version of Death Stranding can get the exact same upgrade through PSN, but will have to do it through their PS5 console. They will need to have the PS4 disc in their PS5 whenever they want to play the game or download it.
- Unfortunately, players who have the PS4 disc version of Death Stranding but own the disc-less digital PS5 console will not be able to get the upgrade and will have to buy Death Stranding Director’s Cut for full price.
These details will be familiar to PS5 owners since Final Fantasy VII Remake could be upgraded from PS4 to PS5 in the exact same way. It also seems like the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be available as a PS5 to PS4 upgrade in the exact same way as the Death Stranding Director’s Cut upgrade. Hopefully this practice will continue for PS5 owners.
