Microsoft Flight Simulator is the perfect game for anyone who dreams of flying or yearns to explore our planet. It’s also a gorgeous game to behold, enjoyable solely for its lush detail. This is certainly a game that wants for powerful hardware, and the PlayStation 5 happens to have plenty of grunt to spare. But when is Flight Simulator coming to PS5?
What’s the Microsoft Flight Simulator PS5 release date?
There is no release date for Microsoft Flight Simulator on the PS5 because the game isn’t available for PlayStation 5. It was developed by Asobo Studio and published by Microsoft exclusively for Windows PCs and the Xbox Series X|S.
Granted, that’s been the case for a while. While many players might simply call the game Flight Simulator, the full title is Microsoft Flight Simulator. That alone ought to give you an idea of its platform exclusivity. Microsoft has been producing the game for years, and no version of it has ever landed on a PlayStation console. Prospects on Mac PCs aren’t looking much better, either.
To make matters worse, the PS5 is sorely lacking in actual flight simulators. At the time of writing, there don’t seem to be any native to PS5 at all. A few similar kinds of games are available through PS4 backward compatibility, notably Ace Combat 7 and Island Flight Simulator. Unfortunately, they aren’t really geared toward the Earth-based realism that Microsoft’s franchise is known for.
It’s a bit of a sad song, really: Microsoft Flight Simulator will almost certainly never release for the PS5. Aerospace enthusiasts will need to power up their PCs or pick up an Xbox if they want to play the series’ latest flight sim. Thankfully, it’s worth the effort — Microsoft Flight Simulator is a darling of the Game Revolution crew and even earned our coveted Editor’s Choice award. Check out our review here.
