One of the big surprises of the Xbox Gamescom stream was the announcement of the State of Decay 2 Homecoming update. This patch will bring a new map, story, weapons, and more to the game. Many had assumed development on State of Decay 2 had ceased in favor of the upcoming State of Decay 3, which means the Homecoming update is a pleasant surprise for fans.
What is the State of Decay 2 Homecoming update release date?
The State of Decay 2 Homecoming update will release on September 1.
This will be the first expansion since Heartland came out on June 11, 2019. However, the game has continued to receive content in the form of the Juggernaut edition in March 2020. It also got a Series X|S version, and an update earlier this month added a new plague territory feature.
The Homecoming update will be available for everyone who owns State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Game Store and will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
What’s the new map in the State of Decay 2 Homecoming update?
The new map coming with the State of Decay 2 Homecoming update isn’t entirely new. It’ll be a remastered version of Trumbull Valley, which we visited in the original game and the Heartland expansion. It’ll include resolutions to some plot threads as well as new characters and storylines.
Trumbull Valley has changed in the time since we last saw it, which means there are some other new things to look forward to. Players can claim six new bases and find new weapons, new side stories, and claim new achievements.
Over 10 million players have taken on the zombie hordes since State of Decay 2 released in May 2018, and it’s simpler than ever to join them since the game is available on Xbox Game Pass on console and PC. So save the date and check out the Homecoming update when it drops on September 1, 2021.
