When connecting to MtG Arena for the first time, some players might get stuck on a screen that says “Retrieving Asset Manifest.” Unfortunately, no matter how long one waits, the game will never retrieve that asset manifest. This issue can persist even after closing and relaunching the game, and it can make it seem as though it’s impossible to play. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to get past the issue of being stuck on the Retrieving Asset Manifest screen in Magic Arena.
How to get past the stuck on Retrieving Asset Manifest screen in MtG Arena
There’s an easy way to fix the issue with being stuck on the Retrieving Asset Manifest screen in MtG Arena (unlike the unable to login error). Players just need to connect to another network with internet service momentarily or use a VPN.
For some reason, the game seems to reject connections from some IPs temporarily. To get around this, players need to connect with another IP. The two easiest ways to do this is to either connect to another network or a VPN. However, note that the game will need to download around 1-2 GB of data after it proceeds past this screen. That means that temporarily using mobile data to do this might be prohibitive for some people.
Those that can’t change their IP by joining another network or using a VPN can try some other methods. Some routers will allow users to release and renew their WAN IP, which accomplishes the same thing. Unfortunately, this isn’t an option for everyone.
If a user can’t change their IP, they should contact Wizards of the Coast support. Putting a ticket in will start the process in fixing the issue, but it might take a while to get a response.
Fortunately, most users will have the opportunity to change their IP and fix the issue with being stuck on the Retrieving Asset Manifest in Magic Arena.
