Back 4 Blood is the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, and fans are wondering how many campaigns are available to play. The story of Left 4 Dead is split into various campaigns, each of which has several acts, and Back 4 Blood has a similar format. However, there is a big difference in nomenclature between the two series that makes it a bit a confusing.
How many campaigns and acts are there in Back 4 Blood?
Back 4 Blood launched with one campaign split across four acts.
Left 4 Dead fans might think this is a low amount of content, but Back 4 Blood actually has more levels at launch than Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2. In the Left 4 Dead games, each of the 5-6 campaigns was split into 5 chapters for a total of 25-30 levels. In Back 4 Blood, the campaign is split into four acts, which have the following amount of chapters:
- Act One: 13
- Act Two: 10
- Act Three: 9
- Act Four: 1
Adding these numbers up, Back 4 Blood has 33 levels. That means its content is roughly on par with a Left 4 Dead game at launch. However, the levels are a bit bigger, so it should take players longer to beat B4B’s campaign.
Additional campaigns will likely be added to Back 4 Blood post-launch. The game has an annual pass that Turtle Rock Studios has stated will cover three DLC drops that include new story, characters, and enemies. However, the devs haven’t given any other details as to what the new content will be, so we’re left in the dark for now.
Luckily, those who get the new DLC will still be able to play the new levels with friends who don’t own it. When new story content drops, only the party leader needs to own the DLC for a full team to play together. Stay tuned to Game Revolution for updates on the DLC’s new campaigns as info becomes available.
