Resident Evil 4 VR is finally here, just in time for Halloween. The undisputed survival horror classic is back (once again), but this time in virtual reality with a first-person viewpoint. With positive reviews rolling in, Resi fans are wondering if they can get the game on PC via Steam. So, is there a Resident Evil 4 VR Steam version for PC? Here’s the need-to-know info on playing RE4 VR using Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive, and Valve Index headsets on a computer.
Is Resident Evil 4 VR coming to Steam?
Resident Evil 4 is available now on PC through Steam. Resident Evil 4 VR is an Oculus Quest 2 exclusive released on October 21, 2021.
Armature Studio developed RE4 VR specifically for the standalone Oculus Quest 2 headset, in collaboration with Facebook’s Oculus Studios. Resi 4 VR acts as a “killer app” exclusive to push sales of the latest Oculus HMD, meaning it’s unlikely the game will reach PC VR headsets via Steam.
Capcom’s original 2D version of Resident Evil 4 has a massive number of ports. RE4 is an easy game to resell, so it’s possible that the virtual reality version will follow suit in time. Oculus could have a limited-time exclusivity deal; another possibility is that Oculus will (eventually) put the game on PC in order to serve its Rift and Rift S customers. There’s nothing official to indicate that any of this will happen, however, so keep in mind that it’s just speculation.
Resident Evil 4 VR is the first Oculus Quest 2 exclusive. The original Oculus Quest and its successor have been enjoying content parity up to this point, though that’s no longer the case. Here’s hoping that Resi 4 VR is forward compatible with the rumored upcoming Oculus Quest Pro — if not, the reimagined classic might only ever have a limited player base
In other news, Halo Infinite is getting an ultra-powerful GPU.
