Call of Duty: Vanguard is out, and we’ve started the annual tradition of finding the best weapons in the game. This is always exciting right when a Call of Duty comes out because it’s a scramble to find which guns will be nerfed first. Players are in for a treat with Vanguard because it features some of the most OP guns we’ve seen in years.
What are the best guns in Call of Duty: Vanguard
We’ve collected what we think are the best guns in Call of Duty: Vanguard right now. However, be aware that most of these will inevitably be nerfed in the first few patches for the game. Some of these, especially the BAR and Combat Shotgun, are so good they almost seem bugged. So, players should make sure to have as much fun as they can before these poor weapons are reduced in power and effectiveness.
Best Assault Rifle: Volkssturmgewehr
The Volk assault rifle is the last gun players will unlock in the game, and it’s extremely good. It has high bullet velocity, fast ADS, and low TTK. It’s not really gimmicky; it’s just an excellent gun that can be made even better by a good attachment setup.
Best SMG: Owen Gun
The Owen Gun is probably the most versatile SMG in the game. It has low TTK and has good accuracy, even at medium range. By adding the Hockenson 305MM Precision barrel, the Owen Gun will kill with two headshots, which makes it incredibly deadly. It might not have the rate of fire of the PPSH-41, but the increased damage and accuracy make this the better choice, in our opinion.
Runner-up: PPSH-41
We had to give props to the PPSH-41 because of its incredibly high fire rate. Sure, it’s not very accurate or stable, but at close range, it has one of the lowest TTKs in the game, which makes it a viable option for players that like to charge in guns blazing.
Best Shotgun: Combat Shotgun
One of the candidates for the first weapon to be nerfed is the Combat Shotgun. The one-hit kill range is ridiculous, and it can be equipped with a 10-Round detachable magazine which vastly increases reload speed. This gun puts multiplayer on easy mode, so expect to see everyone using it until Sledgehammer patches it.
Best LMG: MG42
Another weapon that is very likely to get nerfed soon is the MG42. It has a ridiculously high rate of fire and minimal recoil. With the right attachments, it can become even more accurate and lethal. It’s essentially a faster shooting assault rifle with an obnoxiously long reload time as its only weakness.
Best Marksman Rifle: BAR
Yes, the BAR is an assault rifle, but its low rate of fire and high damage make it a better marksman rifle than any of the weapons that actually fall under that class. It has basically no recoil, insane bullet velocity, and can kill in two hits. It’s effective at every range, and its only weakness is that it has low magazine capacity. However, this disadvantage can be somewhat alleviated by the sleight of hand perk. It’s probably the best weapon in the game right now.
Best Sniper Rifle: Type 99
This rifle is just dumb. It has a one-shot kill to the chest when the 8MM Klauser 5-Round Magazine is equipped. Forget sitting around because this is a quick scope king. Besides the 8MM Klauser, just add attachments that increase ADS and stability. Using the default 2.5x scope is just fine with the Type 99, and an aggressive sniper can rack up kill after kill.
