CoD: Vanguard takes inspiration from its Activision stablemate, Overwatch, by displaying post-match gameplay spotlights. Call of Duty: Vanguard “Best Play” highlights serve to showcase the very best play of a game — or at least, they should do. In reality, the broken play of the game system all too often shows pointless game footage that’s unrepresentative and/or unimpressive. So, is there a Call of Duty: Vanguard post-game highlights fix? Here’s the need-to-know info for players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, and PC.
Call of Duty: Vanguard “Best Play” highlights bug fix
Glitchy Call of Duty: Vanguard “Best Play” highlight videos require an update, patch, or hotfix to function better. An automated process chooses what replays to show; unfortunately, players can’t actively address problems with the system on their end.
Issues with automatic replay generation aren’t anything new. Overwatch is the originator of “Play of the Game” highlights, yet to this day the FPS often spotlights uneventful gameplay. As a matter of routine, impressive feats are either cut short or don’t appear at all in favor of mundane events.
On that last point, the buggy Call of Duty: Vanguard post-game replays are no better. After analyzing an entire multiplayer match, the Best Play highlight system chooses to showcase a player mantling a waist-high wall in the @charlieINTEL clip below. It also carries the label of “Final Kill,” despite no frags featuring in a clip that prioritizes novice parkour instead.
Truly the best play of the game you'll see. #Vanguard

While this example is at least amusing, more often than not, it can be pretty annoying. Players can’t skip the CoD: Vanguard highlight videos after completing a match, so most being simultaneously uneventful and unfunny just makes for wasted time. Hopefully, Activision and Sledgehammer Games will release a Call of Duty: Vanguard “Best Play” spotlight patch on all platforms soon.
In more bizarre Vanguard news, the Bayonet attachment is the game’s deadliest weapon. Well, maybe not accounting for the V2 Rocket — check out how to earn one right here.
