Call of Duty Vanguard crashing on launch servers down

Call of Duty: Vanguard keeps crashing on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

Call of Duty: Vanguard keeps crashing on multiple platforms. PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S consoles have all been affected by the game crashing on launch. So, what’s causing COD: Vanguard to crash, and how do we fix it?

How to fix Call of Duty: Vanguard crashing on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

The reason for Call of Duty: Vanguard crashing today is a bug in the Secrets of the Pacific event update. When users updated the game today, the bug caused the game to crash on launch for multiple platforms instantly. After investigating the issue, Sledgehammer Games rolled back the update, which should have fixed the issue.

However, once the update was rolled back, the huge amount of players attempting to log in DDoSed the Call of Duty: Vanguard servers. Unfortunately, that means that even though the game is not technically working, some users are still experiencing problems connecting.

If the game works and is able to launch as normal and a player can’t connect, the best thing to do is wait a bit and try again. However, if the game continues to crash, players will want to make sure they download the patch that rolls back the Secrets of the Pacific update. Everyone should have gotten two Call of Duty: Vanguard updates today. Those that have only received one should use the check for updates function on their platform to download the second patch.

If issues continue to persist, players should try the usual battery of fixes:

  • Try restarting the PC or console.
  • Restart routers and modems.
  • Check file integrity.
  • Reinstall the game.

If the above fixes don’t work, the issue is almost definitely not on the player’s side. Like many issues we’ve seen with Call of Duty games, the best thing to do in this scenario is to keep waiting and try to log in later.
