Sea of Thieves Coral Beard Error Code: Why is SoT down?

Sea of Thieves players are experiencing the “Coral Beard” error code when attempting to connect to the game servers on Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam and Game Pass). Is there a quick, easy, and best solution? Here’s the lowdown on a fix for the Sea of Thieves Coral Beard error that’s keeping SoT fans offline.

How to fix the Sea of Thieves “Coral Beard” error message

Sea of Thieves Coral Beard error fix

The Sea of Thieves Coral Beard (Coralbeard) error code indicates a temporary service outage on Xbox and PC.

When the SoT Coral Beard error message appears, unfortunately, there’s little to nothing that players can do to rectify the problem on their end. This issue lies with the Rare servers, though feel free to contact @SoT_Support in order to alert the dev team to the issue.

At the time of writing (November 26, 2021) there’s an ongoing outage that’s resulting in some players “experiencing issues connecting” to the SoT servers. Rare is aware of the issue and currently working to implement a fix, so Xbox and PC users simply need to sit tight and await a server-side update, patch, or hotfix.

Although it’s inconvenient, users can at least rest assured that there isn’t a problem on their end where this error is concerned. It’s currently a Gold and Glory weekend, which grants players double rewards — as a result, it’s likely that the servers are under more stress than usual. Once demand dies down following the event, SoT will hopefully return to a more stable state of connectivity.
