Call of Duty Warzone: Controller disconnecting fix

A frustrating bug is affecting Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific players on console. The team at Raven is investigating a new issue with controller disconnections. For whatever reason, when controllers become disconnected, they won’t connect again. The cause of the controller disconnect bug is currently unknown, but there is a short-term fix while a patch is being developed.

If your controller gets disconnected while playing Warzone, you may find that it won’t connect again. It’s not yet clear what causes this bug to occur. However, there is at least a temporary fix. You can get your controller to reconnect by restarting the game. You’ll have to completely close and restart the software. After that, your controller will work again.

With a problem this frustrating, it’s no surprise that players are upset. Fortunately, according to the Warzone Trello support board, we know that the team at Raven is actively investigating the problem. There’s no word on when a proper fix will be available, of course. For now, it appears the cause of the bug is still unknown. But the short-term workaround at least means players aren’t left unable to jump into matches.

Thankfully, the problem isn’t so widespread that vast numbers of players are getting disconnects. Random controller disconnections aside, you should be able to at least avoid the issue by making sure your controllers or batteries are fully charged prior to playing. Alternatively, you could try using a wired connection — just make sure the cable doesn’t get disconnected accidentally.

Once your controller disconnects while playing Warzone, the best way to reconnect it is to restart the game. It’s a nuisance, but it’s better than not being able to play at all. Sit tight while the team at Raven Software work on a fix. In the meantime, it would probably help to make sure your controller’s batteries stay topped up. You might even consider using a nice high-end wired gamepad, like the PowerA Advanced Wired Xbox Series X|S controller.
