Does FF7 Remake PC Support DLSS or ray tracing?

Final Fantasy XV was one of the first games to show how drastically DLSS could improve performance. So, fans assumed that FF7 Remake would support DLSS 2.0 and possibly even ray tracing. So, did Square Enix continue its partnership with NVIDIA? We’ll take a look below.

Does Final Fantasy 7 Remake have DLSS or ray tracing?

FF7 Remake PC DLSS RTX

Unfortunately, FF7 Remake doesn’t have DLSS or ray tracing. It’s a well-optimized port (though some people have had issues), but it has a puzzling lack of graphic options. Not only does it not have any NVIDIA-exclusive settings, but it also doesn’t allow players to adjust hardly anything.

The only graphic settings that players can change in Final Fantasy 7 Remake for PC are:

  • Display Mode
  • Screen Resolution
  • Texture Resolution
  • Shadow Resolution
  • Framerate
  • Characters Displayed
  • Dynamic Range
  • Brightness
  • HDR Luminance
  • HDR Darkness
  • HDR Brightness
  • UI Brightness

So, even standard settings like anti-aliasing aren’t adjustable. Since the game runs on Unreal Engine 4, it’s likely that it generates a typical config file when installed. It’s possible that players could manually edit the config with notepad, but we haven’t had a chance to check this yet.

As to whether or not DLSS or RTX will be added to FF7 Remake on PC in the future is anyone’s guess. Neither Square Enix nor NVIDIA has commented on upcoming updates for the game, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what’s in store. If we had to guess, Square Enix still considers the PlayStation as the primary development platform for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. As such, we doubt much effort will be made on PC-specific updates aside from updates. It’s possible that might not be the case; after all, Final Fantasy XV received a ton of features that were exclusive to PC. However, given the limited marketing, this port has gotten, it seems like PC fans should get comfortable with what they have now.
