Final Fantasy 7 is one of the most acclaimed JRPGs of all time. That’s why Square Enix chose it as the foundation of the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7, a vast media franchise that expands the game’s original narrative. And all of those extra pieces are coming together in Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis, an upcoming episodic rendition of the overall story. We know Ever Crisis is planned for iOS and Android devices, but what about other platforms? And when will the game finally launch?
Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis Release Date on Android and iOS
Square Enix hasn’t yet provided a firm release date for Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis. According to the game’s official website, it’s still set to release in 2022.
Unfortunately, that’s all we really know for now. There really haven’t been many official news updates, though early images appear on Twitter via apparent beta testers. In fact, the latest video available is the teaser trailer first uploaded in February of 2021:
Until we hear otherwise, it’s probably best to assume the release date is closer to the end of the year. If anything, we may hear more about it toward spring of 2022, when Square Enix is expected to reveal news about Final Fantasy 16.
Is Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis coming to PC or Switch?
A Nintendo Switch version of Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis seems unlikely, considering the game is designed for mobile devices. However, unlike FF7 Remake, it should be lightweight enough to potentially run on the Switch. And though an official PC release is unlikely, it should be possible to run the game on PC using Android emulators.
In other words, Ever Crisis is meant to be a mobile game first. The game is designed specifically for Android and iOS. But, given enough success — or fan demand — it could be possible to see Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis release for PC or Switch. We just wouldn’t hold our breath for it.
