Silent Hills Release Date

Silent Hills Release Date: PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch

One of the biggest disappointments in gaming was when it was announced Silent Hills was canceled. Fans were hoping for a sequel or a reboot in the Silent Hill series for years, and it’s been a sore spot for the horror game community for years. But some still hold out hope we’ll see a Silent Hills release date.

When is the release date for Silent Hills?

Silent Hills Release Date Platforms

Silent Hills would have likely had a release date set sometime in 2016 or 2017. Development on the game started in 2012 and was slated to hit full swing when director Hideo Kojima finished work on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. However, during the development of The Phantom Pain, a rift formed between Kojima and Konami management. As a result, he left the company, and in April 2015, Konami announced that Silent Hills was canceled.

Since then, there have been constant rumors that a new Silent Hill release date is right around the corner. Practically every major game event has those claiming to be in the know “leaking” info about an upcoming Silent Hill game. Unfortunately, these claims have been all over the place. Some purport that Hideo Kojima has restarted development on Silent Hills, while others claim Konami has licensed the property to other studios.

As of now, there is no credible evidence that Silent Hills or any other Silent Hill game is in development. Considering the massive reaction to the Blue Box conspiracy theory last year, we’d say there’s a better chance that a new Silent Hill game could be made in the future, but we have our doubts about one being in the works right now.

What platforms would it release on?

If Silent Hills is released in the future, we’d likely see it on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. We don’t anticipate it releasing in time to be a cross-gen title.
