Starcraft 3 Release Date: PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch

You can’t list the best real-time strategy games of all time without including Starcraft. Blizzard’s RTS series is frankly legendary within the genre. However, dedicated series fans have been left without a new game for years and years. Naturally, they’re primed for the release of Starcraft 3, but when is that game coming out? Is it even planned?

What is the Starcraft 3 release date?

What is the Starcraft 3 release date?

Starcraft 3 does not have a release date because it hasn’t been made yet. Fans likely expect a sequel following the first two games, but that’s just not the case so far. In fact, Blizzard hasn’t mentioned any plans to make a third Starcraft game. Without any development plans in place, a release date is out of the question.

As for the why, that’s also a bit of a bummer. The original developers of Starcraft 2, internally dubbed “Team 1,” were disbanded last year. Fortunately for Starcraft fans, they went on to form Frost Giant Studios. Even better, the studio’s first project is for a new real-time strategy game. It won’t be Starcraft, of course, but it could be something very similar.

Will Starcraft 3 be on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or PC?

Since Starcraft 3 is not in development, it’s not available for any platforms. Granted, if the game ever does become a reality, it probably would release for most modern platforms. But since there are no plans to make the game, considering available platforms would just be conjecture.

By all accounts, Starcraft 3 is neither in development nor planned for development. Much of the crew responsible for the previous game has left to form another studio. Of course, Blizzard still owns the IP, so we can’t say Starcraft 3 will never happen. But until we hear an official confirmation that it’s in development, it’s probably best to find your RTS fix elsewhere.
