Will the various Nintendo Switch Sports missing games be added at a later date as DLC? Nintendo announced the newest iteration of the popular Wii Sports franchise in February’s Nintendo Direct, which is coming out April 29, but it seems to be missing a number of popular sports from the previous titles. Golf will be added as DLC this Fall, but is Nintendo Switch Sports Boxing or Baseball DLC coming too?
Will there be Nintendo Switch Sports Boxing or Baseball DLC?
It is possible that missing Wii Sports games such as Boxing, Baseball, and Archery could be added to Nintendo Switch Sports as free DLC in 2023. At the moment, Nintendo has only confirmed that the Golf sport will be added to Nintendo Switch Sports as a free DLC update in Fall 2022, but it is entirely possible that further sports will be added later if the game proves popular. If so, it seems likely that Nintendo will plan on updating Nintendo Switch Sports throughout 2023 with new games, the same way that it supports Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Here are all the games that were present in Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort but are currently missing from Nintendo Switch Sports, and could be added as a free update:
- Boxing
- Baseball
- Extra swordplay games, such as Duel, Speed Slice, and Showdown
- Wakeboarding
- Frisbee
- Archery
- Basketball
- Table Tennis
- Power Cruising
- Canoeing
- Cycling
- Air Sports — parachuting, dogfighting, and piloting
While a few of these seem better suited to the vacation-themed Wii Sports Resort, there are several major games there that would be great additions to Nintendo Switch Sports. Fans will just have to wait and see, however.
In further Nintendo news, the Nintendo Direct brought back Mario Kart and Fire Emblem but failed to show several strongly-rumored games, and our reviewer called Pokemon Legends Arceus “a step in the right direction for Pokemon” but has “significant compromises.” Check out that review right here.
