The Walking Dead is slowly winding down, but the universe is far from undead. Tales of the Walking Dead will be the fourth spin-off of The Walking Dead and will take a different format. Instead of consisting of a long, arching story, the new show will be an anthology series that deals with a wide array of new and old characters in The Walking Dead universe. Fortunately, fans don’t have to wait too long for a Tale of the Walking Dead release date either, and we’ll discuss details about the series below.
Tales of the Walking Dead release date rumors
Variety says Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere in Summer 2022. the first season will feature six one-hour episodes. We haven’t gotten any plot summaries or hints yet, but we do know that each episode will center around a new character or group.
Interestingly, AMC has said that particularly popular stories might get their own spin-off. With spin-offs of a spin-off, we’re getting into Laverne & Shirley territory, which might be a first for a horror series.
Who’s the cast?
So far, Jillian Bell, Terry Crews, Anthony Edwards, Poppy Liu, and Parker Posey have been cast in starring roles. Again, no specific details about potential plots have leaked, but that’s a good lineup.
We also don’t know where each episode of Tales of the Walking Dead will be set in the timeline. It’s possible they could take place after the conclusion of The Walking Dead, but we think the series would be best off going back to the beginning. We never got to see the initial outbreak in any detail, and we hope at least one episode will give us a peek at that. We also never got to see the government’s response, and it would be interesting to see the collapse.
