Do the Horizon Forbidden West choices players make in dialogue scenes matter? Much like the first game, there are a lot of Horizon Forbidden West dialogue options that seem like they will have an effect on characters and the new world, or just Aloy herself. Do any of these dialogue decisions matter, especially to the ending, or are they there just to make conversations more interesting and interactive?
Do Horizon Forbidden West choices matter?
The choices made in dialogue scenes only affect Aloy and how the person she is talking to sees her, they do not have any impact on Horizon Forbidden West’s ending, the world, or other characters, and there is no form of morality meter. Players are free to make whatever choice they like in dialogue moments based on how their version of Aloy would behave, but these choices do not affect the story of Horizon Forbidden West in any way.
Much like in Horizon Zero Dawn, there are three possible conversation choice types in Forbidden West. While these choices don’t have any effect on the rest of the game, they do affect how any interaction with other characters will go. The dialogue options are:
- Fist: Aloy confronts any challenge head-on.
- Brain: Aloy uses her own insight and smarts to find a more clever option.
- Heart: Aloy expresses compassion and sympathy for the character’s plight, or gives a voice to her deepest convictions.
These choices shape the player’s version of Aloy but cannot affect Horizon Forbidden West’s ending, as there is no branching storyline and there is only one ending that won’t change based on the player’s decisions — in conversations or otherwise.
