HBO’s hit futuristic show, Westworld, will be coming back to screens soon. Exactly when is unknown, but filming has wrapped on Westworld season 4, and now fans are required to sit tight a little longer. So far there are no trailers or promos for the eagerly anticipated sci-fi drama, but its fourth iteration is almost ready.
Westworld season 4 release date rumors explained
Announced in April 2020, the fourth season of Westworld has been eagerly awaited for some time now. As of March 2022, there are no official release dates to be seen.
Rumor has it, the new season will drop in May 2022, but that’s getting quite close, and there is no hint at it coming out. A new Variety report stated that season will be out in summer, however. Given that filming wrapped up last year (via ComingSoon), it is likely that we will get the new season soon.
Westworld season 4’s cast and characters
Westworld’s cast has had a bit of a shakeup since its first few episodes — now hardly any of the same faces remain. But that doesn’t mean some familiar characters aren’t back for another round.
For instance, Thandiwe Newton is reprising her role as Maeve, Jeffrey Wright is back as Bernard, and Aaron Paul is Caleb Nichols once again. Ed Harris is even coming back thanks to the new host body technology in the show. Rumor has it that Evan Rachel Wood may return, but as a different character than Dolores.
Westworld season 4 story and plot explained
Everything to do with Westworld’s next seasons’ plot is being kept seriously under wraps. Directors, cast, and crew have given nothing away — even cast members knew nothing prior to filming. Screenwriter Jonathan Nolan has refused to confirm or deny whether the new season will be in the world as we know it, or in the park, or even in a future time period.
What we do know is that the team behind Westworld was spotted filming in a new area: Utah’s Canyonland National Park. Whatever this means is still, unfortunately, a secret.
