Players have been frustrated over the Rune Factory 5 storage area full problem, given how unclear the solution might be. As a quaint, slice-of-life farming simulator, it should be an easy-breezy experience. So, not being able to purchase furniture because your storage area happens to be full or blocked is understandably irritating.
When attempting to purchase a piece of furniture from Palmo, Rigbarth’s master carpentering Rune Factory 5 he might respond with “OH NOES! That storage area is already full of furniture. Please try making your purchase again after emptying it!” But, it’s confusing as to what Palmo actually means, especially since the “storage area” he’s talking about likely isn’t what players are thinking about as a storage area in the first place.
How do you empty the Rune Factory 5 storage area?
To clear the storage area in Rune Factory 5, you actually need to clear two places (yeah, we know, it’s baffling and obtuse). First, you need to return to your room and clear the square area where your wardrobe has likely been placed by default. Then, there’s another “storage area” near the door to Palmo’s shop, which may have a free cooking item (e.g. a cooking table) placed on top of it, that you’ll need to empty as well. To do so, you should be able to pick up the item and carry it to your room.
After that, you should finally have access to purchase additional furniture from Palmo without any issue. He’ll even let you carry furniture yourself on the spot and buy additional cooking items from his catalog.
The common but understandable mistake is to think that the “storage area” Palmo is referring to is the one in your bedroom with all the barrels clogging up the area. It also doesn’t help that Rune Factory 5 doesn’t allow players to view the game using a top-down perspective, which can make it difficult to figure out what to do. The mini-map or some visual indicator should have made it much clearer as to where these “storage area” platforms are.
