So far through “Point and Shoot,” we see the cover-up of Howard’s untimely death take shape. Lalo almost casually instructs Jimmy to murder Gus, though being the consummate lawyer, Jimmy is able to persuade Lalo to have Kim do it instead. There are several moments when Kim has to fight the urge to tell the cops what’s happening, before explaining the situation to Mike face to face. Gus, as discerning as ever, is able to figure out that this is just a ruse, heading to Lavanderia Brillante where he finally confronts Lalo. Given that Gus planted a gun in the facility earlier, the outcome is fairly obvious: Lalo dies. Mike’s crew is then seen removing Howard’s body, framing his death as a suicide.
The second half of the last season will be shorter than the first. There are only three episodes left, with Vince Gilligan directing and writing the penultimate episode and Peter Gould taking the reins for both roles in the finale. According to ShowBuzzDailys, Episode 9 garnered over 1.1 million viewers in the US, making it one of the most watched shows this summer.
