Is Stray coming to the Nintendo Switch? BlueTwelve Studio’s recently released game has already proven popular on PlayStation consoles and PC, but fans are wondering if it has received a Switch release date. Given the cute nature of the action platformer, it seems like an ideal fit for the handheld system, yet it hasn’t been released on Nintendo’s hardware. But could this change in the future?
Is Stray coming out on Nintendo Switch?
Stray has yet to receive a Nintendo Switch release date, but this doesn’t mean that it won’t release on the console in the future. In fact, it’s likely that it will release on Switch after its limited-time console exclusivity on the PS5 and PS4 comes to an end — this could be as early as 2023.
Stray’s limited-time exclusivity on PlayStation consoles was first revealed in a 2020 teaser trailer for the game, which concluded with a note that it would be a “console exclusive for a limited time,” though that it would also be available on PC. The trailer didn’t confirm when the exclusivity would end, and both PlayStation and publisher Annapurna Interactive have yet to divulge that information. However, with how long console exclusivity typically lasts for, it could well make its way to other platforms — including the Switch — in less than a year.
But Stray is currently playable on a handheld system, as Steam Deck owners get to enjoy it on a smaller screen. While the Steam Deck is certainly more powerful than the Switch, it at least shows players that it’s possible it’ll become portable in the near future — even if they may have to wait a little while.
