Pink Sauce is one of TikTok’s latest viral crazes. The unusual pink-colored condiment made by Chef Pii has everyone talking, and a lot of people are asking if it’s safe to eat. According to all the info we’ve parsed, Pink Sauce is NOT safe, and you have a high risk of illness if you consume it. It is dangerous to ingest, and if you purchased it you should dispose of it immediately upon delivery. We’ll go into the multiple reasons why you shouldn’t eat it below:

Incorrect Labeling

Pink Sauce Nutrition Facts

On the Pink Sauce website, there’s a nutrition label that states the ingredient are:

  • Water
  • Sunflower Seed Oil
  • Raw Honey
  • “Distilled Vinger” (Vinegar?)
  • Garlic
  • Pitaya (Dragon Fruit)
  • Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
  • Less than 2% of:
  • Dried Spices
  • Lemon Juice
  • Milk
  • Citric Acid

The Nutrition Facts label includes erroneous information like claiming that the bottle contains 444 servings (which would be around 6.4 kilograms). However, the main concern around Pink Sauce consumption is shipping. Some social media users have questioned whether it’s dangerous to mail a sauce containing milk products with no conservatives in a heatwave (it isn’t).

Possible food regulation violations

Pink Sauce Ingredients

Cottage Food laws in Florida (where Pink Sauce is produced) allow unlicensed home kitchens to produce food for sale that presents a low risk of foodborne illness. However, sauces aren’t part of the approved Cottage Food products list.

Also, the website notes that Pink Sauce is produced by:

Flavor Crazy Inc.

2750 N 29th Ave

Hollywood, FL 33020

Florida’s regulations state that you must produce or package cottage food “at the residence of a natural person.” The address above is a block of office space. So, if Pink Sauce is produced there, it’s in violation of Florida statutes. Alternatively, it violates the labeling regulations if it’s not produced there.

We ran a search through Multiple Florida food licensing and agricultural agencies and found no registration for Flavor Crazy Inc. We found a business under that name was incorporated by a Veronica Shaw in July 2021. However, the address didn’t match the one above (though it is close by).

Summary of reasons why eating Pink Sauce is risky

So, yes, Pink Sauce is dangerous for these reasons:

  • First, there are reports of it arriving spoiled.
  • The nutritional facts on the bottle are wrong (and are likely entirely made up).
  • There’s no evidence of an expiration date on the bottle, meaning you can’t tell when your batch was made or when it’ll go bad.
  • There’s absolutely no quality control.
  • It’s not FDA-approved.
  • There’s no evidence that Chef Pii or anyone helping her produce the sauce is a licensed food handler.
  • It has no preservatives, and it contains milk products.

So, do yourself a favor and throw some red food color into some mayonnaise. You’ll get your own Pink Sauce, and you won’t be spending $20 to get botulism or salmonella.
