Grounded version 1.0 was released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on September 27, but players on other platforms may be left wondering if they’ll ever be able to join in the fun. Will the game ever come to PS5, PS4, or Nintendo Switch, and if so, when are we likely to see those versions?
Is there a Grounded PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch release date?
There is not a confirmed release date for Grounded on PS5, PS4, or Nintendo Switch at the time of writing. Grounded has only ever been confirmed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Windows Store and Steam. The game can also be played on mobile devices through Xbox Cloud Gaming, although players will need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership for this.
Will Grounded ever come to PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch?
Grounded is unlikely to be released on PS5, PS4, or Nintendo Switch. Since developer Obsidian Entertainment was acquired by Microsoft and became part of Xbox Game Studios in 2018, their games have been announced and exclusively released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The only exception to this has been The Outer Worlds, which was subject to an existing contract to release the game on other platforms before the studio’s acquisition.
Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming games have also only been announced for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. This includes Pentiment that’s due to be released on November 15, 2022, as well as Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 which are yet to receive release dates. PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch players might be a little upset about the latter title, seeing as The Outer Worlds was released on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, but there are no plans for the game to be released outside of the Xbox ecosystem at this time.
