Steppe Talus is one of the first mini-bosses you may encounter in the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Found in the forest of spirits, this massive rock enemy is no traditional battle.
There is really only one way to take down this mini boss. Here's how you do it.
First, you need to scale the Steppe Talus. Before you can do this, you need to stun it to provide yourself a moment of opportunity. Simply throw a bomb near it before approaching. The Steppe Talus will stagger and leave itself open to your aggression.
While the Steppe Talus is staggered, approach it from behind before jumping and grabbing onto its back. From here you can climb to the top before standing on its head.
When on its head you'll notice a small weak point that looks like black coal. Your goal is to clobber this weak point until the Steppe Talus dies. This will require several cycles of climbing and attacking the weak point.
Note that you might lose balance while climbing or standing on top of the mini-boss. Timing and a little bit of luck are all you need, and maybe a better weapon.
