The Dark and Darker magical interaction speed stat can be confusing to understand. It can be unclear as to what this attribute actually means, what it affects, and how it’s different from regular interaction speed. So here’s a quick explanation of what magical interaction speed does in Dark and Darker.
What does magical interaction speed mean in Dark and Darker?
Magical interaction speed determines how quickly your character interacts with magical objects and mechanisms, particularly shrines and portals.
The stat wasn’t implemented in earlier builds of the game, but this has since changed and now impacts the speed at which your character can finish working with magical items. By contrast, regular interaction speed determines how fast your character interacts with pretty much everything else.
Magical interaction speed is a fairly minor stat. So long as there aren’t enemies nearby and you’re interacting with an item with a good angle on your surroundings, it’s just a waiting game. Unlike regular interaction speed, the stat is governed by the Knowledge stat instead of Resourcefulness.
As such, based on stat calculations from earlier builds, having 0 Knowledge means that you interact with magical interaction speed at a -75% reduction rate. Having 15 Knowledge levels that out to a base 0% change to this stat, while having 26 Knowledge increases that to a flat +100% improvement.
We’ll have to see if any of this changes after Dark and Darker releases in 1.0 later this year on PC and possibly on consoles.
