Dark and Darker, the upcoming hardcore high fantasy PvPvE game, has been in development for some years now with a myriad of alpha playtests under their belt, but players are desperate to know its release date.
When is Dark and Darker coming out?
Currently, IRONMACE has hopes for a tentative Q3 2023 release date window for Dark and Darker. Currently, there is no exact scheduled launch for the game’s 1.0 update.
The latest patch accompanying their Next Fest demo on Steam has added plenty of new content, including a new experimental solo mode, The Goblin Caves — a perfect place for new players to cut their teeth on the at-times unforgiving but rewarding gameplay.
Given the often-changing in-game landscape, and that recent playtests in December 2022 were still being dubbed ‘alphas’ by the team, we could be a long way out from an actual fully-fledged 1.0 Dark and Darker release.
The Dungeons and Dragons-meets-Escape From Tarkov design of the game has captured many gamers looking for a brutal online experience and has already earned Dark and Darker a spot on this week’s Steam Next Fest. Korean developer IRONMACE has been ironing out the multiple kinks and bugs during these testing phases, with a bustling Discord community offering feedback, akin to the days of early access players assisting with testing the massive hit roguelike Hades from SuperGiant Games.
