The number of Diablo 4 max skill points is important to know about when creating your build. The majority of skill points are earned by levelling, but you can earn a few extra points as well. If you wish, you can actually earn all the skill points in the game before you finish the main campaign. Here’s how many skill points you can earn in Diablo 4.
How many skill points can you earn in Diablo 4
The Diablo 4 max skill points is 58. You can earn 48 points simply by levelling up to Level 50, and you can get 10 points by gaining renown throughout Sanctuary.
Specifically, you can earn 2 skill points by the time you reach the third tier of renown in every region: Kehjistan, Scosglen, Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, and Hawezar. The first tier of renown will reward you with 1 point and the third tier of renown also rewards 1 point.
There are many ways to gain renown, be it through completing side quests, finding Altars of Lilith, securing strongholds, or finishing dungeons within the region. Dungeons and strongholds earn the most renown, so we suggest clearing them first if you want to earn skill points quickly.
Thankfully, the cost of refunding all of your skill points isn’t too expensive, since gold is easy to earn just by selling any extra gear you find. Any additional levels you earn past Level 50 will earn paragon points instead.
That said, it’s possible that Blizzard may raise the current maximum number of skill points in the future with several expansions. If any upcoming DLC adds another region to the game, it’s expected that it would add two more points by default if we’re following the pattern. But since you can only assign six skills to the hotbar (at least for now), this likely won’t change any endgame builds all that much.
