In Dave the Diver, you’ll need to find the Giant Trevally Fin to upgrade your weapons. Unfortunately, the fin has an extremely low drop rate. Adding to the difficulty of finding this material, the Giant Trevally is an elusive fish, and it requires several upgrades to get to its habitat. However, finding the Giant Trevally location is just the beginning of this ordeal.
Where to find Giant Trevally Fin in Dave the Diver
You can find Giant Trevally Fins in Dave the Diver by hunting Giant Trevally. These fish are found at medium depths between 50 to 130 meters below.
To reach this section of the ocean, you’ll need the following upgrades:
- Air Tank Level 3
- Diving Suit Level 3
An upgraded tank and suit allow you to traverse the area where the Giant Trevally appears. However, even once you can reach it, the Giant Trevally Fin is a rare drop in Dave the Diver.
There are two ways you can obtain it:
- Kill the fish
- Capture the fish
You’ll eventually find the fins if you kill the fish and harvest it. However, getting the three it takes to upgrade just one weapon can take a while. Once you unlock the ability to capture large fish, consider taking this route instead. You’ll get roughly 3 fins per 25 kills or 3 fins per 10 captures, which makes the latter method much more efficient.
There are some theories in the game’s community that other factors affect the fin’s drop rate. Some believe that the sharper your weapon is, the more likely you are to get a Giant Trevally Fin. However, that theory hasn’t been substantiated.
Many players feel that the drop rate for this item is unusually low. We might see the devs adjust this in a future patch. But, for now, you can prepare for a long grind when farming this material.
