Mortal Kombat 1 does have Brutalities, much like Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 before it. These finishers are just one of the few ways to end a match.
How to unlock Brutalities in MK1
To unlock Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1, you will have to level up your characters. Each character has multiple Brutalities on their Mastery tracks. You can see the progress for each character and Kameo by pressing the related button to near your profile banner on the main menu. From there, tab over to the Mastery section.
All of the characters have Brutalities every few levels. However, it is hard to see how many since the rewards are obscured for everything a few tiers above your current level. The current max level for base characters is 35, while the Kameos can go up to level 15.
It is very likely that NetherRealm will patch in more Brutalities as the months go on. Some Brutalities have been free in past games, while others have needed to be unlocked through playing enough ranked sets or towers. Given that trend, it’s possible that future Brutalities will also have to unlocked in Invasions or Kombat League.
