A Football Manager 2024 save won’t load bug is frustrating some players who have already invested a lot of time in their game. Trying to load in the FM24 save state doesn’t work, and the game doesn’t respond in any meaningful way. There are several reasons why this can happen, and they are all rather different from each other. One bug in particular that developer Sports Interactive has identified is causing a lot of the problems with saves. Here’s how to fix the save not loading error for Football Manager 2024 on PC. Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
How to fix Football Manager 2024 save won’t load bug
The following are several solutions you can try to fix any save loading problems with Football Manager 2024:
- Wait for developer to fix mid-season league bug – As noted in a thread on the official Sports Interactive forums for the game, the developers has acknowledged a bug that can corrupt saves if players add a league in the mid-season. A fix is reportedly arriving for this issue, but no exact schedule has been provided yet.
- Clear disk drive space – Check to see whether or not the drive that you have your FM24 saves on isn’t full. If it is, remove some files and reboot the game. This should have the game recognize your saves.
- Access the auto-backup save file – There are many reasons why a save file can become corrupted. If this happens, you can head to your save folder for FM24 and access a file called “last save overwrite backup.fm” or something similar to that. You can use this save instead and see if most of your progress has been retained.
Worse case scenario, you can possibly use the “Restore Previous Versions” function that’s a part of Windows. If you right-click on the corrupted save file, you might be able to restore a prior version of it that works.
