Pokemon Go players get another chance to catch Regigigas in this week’s five-star raids. The big question on many trainers’ minds, though, is whether or not Regigigas can be shiny in Pokemon Go. It’s hard to keep up with which Pokemon can be shiny, especially if you also play the main series games.
Can Regigigas be shiny in Pokemon Go raids?
You can catch a shiny Regigigas in Pokemon Go raids. Its shiny form isn’t drastically different than its normal one. The only difference is that the parts on its wrists, shoulders, and face are a blue color instead of yellow. Fortunately, this is one of the easiest ways to get a shiny Regigigas in the history of the franchise since the odds of running into one in a five-star raid is relatively high.
If you want to increase your odds of running into a Shiny Regigigas, your best bet is to leave the terrible in-game matchmaking alone and use an app like Poke Genie. You’ll get into a lobby much quicker, and you can specify that you’re looking for Regigigas instead of waiting forever to get matched with a raid on a Pokemon you don’t want.
Unfortunately, you won’t know if the Regigigas you’re fighting in Pokemon Go is a shiny until you and your team defeat it. During the raid, the Pokemon you’re facing will always use the normal sprite until you move to the post-raid catching screen. So, while the chance of shiny encounters is much higher during a raid, you might have to burn a few remote raid passes before you get one.
To prepare for your hunt to capture Shiny Regigigas, here are some good counters that’ll help you shred its HP fast:
- Conkeldurr
- Keldeo
- Lucario
- Mega Alakazam
- Mega Blaziken
- Mega Rayquaza
- Shadow Hariyama
- Shadow Machamp
- Shadow Mewtwo
- Terrakion
If you don’t have access to one of these Pokemon, Regigigas is a Normal -type and is weak to Fighting-types. So, plan your team around Fighting-types and Fighting-type moves.
