The Walking Wake Tera Raid is once again available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and you’ve got another chance to get this pseudo-legendary Paradox Pokemon. Fortunately, the best counter to Walking Wake can knock it out in two turns, making this one of the easier five-star events, Tera Raids.
What’s the best Walking Wake counter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
The best counter for Walking Wake in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is Miraidon. If you set up your build correctly, you can KO Walking Wake in two turns, even if you take it on solo.
Here’s the build I used for Miraidon:
Miraidon
- Level: 100
- EVs:
- Special Attack: 252
- HP: 252
- Special Defense: 4
- Moveset:
- Charge
- Electro Drift
- Metal Sound
- Parabolic Charge
- Held Item: Magnet
You can use one of these two strategies to take out Walking Wake fast:
- Turn 1: Use Metal Sound to lower its Special Defense
- turn 2+: Use Electro Drift until you KO it.
Alternatively:
- Turn 1: Use Charge to power up Electro Drift.
- Turn 2+: Use Electro Drift until you KO Walking Wake.
Overall, this is a much easier fight than the one with Iron Leaves, and there’s practically no way to lose with this build.
Alternative Walking Wake counter
Miraidon isn’t the easiest Pokemon to get ahold of for Scarlet players, so we’ve got an alternative counter to Walking Wake that’ll get the job done. It’s not as clean-cut and easy to use, but it’s a useful Pokemon to have in your arsenal.
Azumarill
- Level: 100
- EVs:
- HP: 252
- Attack: 252
- Defense: 4
- Ability: Huge Power
- Nature: Adamant
- Tera Type: Fairy
- Moveset:
- Belly Drum
- Liquidation
- Misty Terrain
- Play Rough
- Held Item: Shell Bell
You’ll want an Azumarill with Huge Power, as this doubles its Attack Power. Once you’ve got the build together, you can use this strategy to counter Walking Wake:
- Turn 1: Use Belly Drum to max Attack.
- Turn 2: Use Misty Terrain to power up Play Rough.
- Turn 3+: Turn Play Rough (Terastallize when able for another boost).
This Azumarill build doesn’t hit with the raw power that Miraidon does, but it should get you through this Tera Raid just fine.
