Helldivers 2 Crashing Error: How to Fix Startup, AMD, Tutorial, Quickplay Crashes

If you’re experiencing a Helldivers 2 crashing error, you’re one of many players who can’t play the game at the moment. There are issues with game crashes on startup, rumored problems with PCs that have AMD graphics cards, and various disconnects with the tutorial and quickplay. Some players don’t have any issues with Helldivers 2 on PS5 or PC via Steam, but given the amount of threads on the Steam forums and Reddit, there are a lot of users who can’t get into the game they paid for. Here are some solutions you can try to fix the multiple Helldivers 2 crashing errors.

How to fix Helldivers 2 crashing errors and bugs

The following are some ways to fix various crashing errors for Helldivers 2, primarily on PC through Steam:

  • Don’t change armor until after the first mission – Developer Arrowhead Games has identified a known issue where the game crashes if the players change their armor after the tutorial. It’s recommended that you complete the first mission before doing this.
  • Disable crossplay for quickplay – Many players are experiencing issues trying to join a match through quickplay, with some getting a “Join Failed” error. The developer recommends that you disable crossplay for now and see if that helps.
  • Disable Steam Input in Steam settings – According to some users on Steam, this will fix crashing issues with startup. Right-click on Helldivers 2 in the Steam library, hit Properties, go to the Controller tab, then click on the drop-down menu and select “Disable Steam Input.”
  • Wait for AMD GPU patches or roll it back – Various reports suggest that players with AMD GPUs are experiencing crashes more frequently. You can try disabling anti-aliasing or rolling the AMD update back to 23.12.1 to see if that helps.
  • Disable certain settings for Nvidia GPUs – Some users suggest disabling image scaling in the Nvidia control panel.

Many of these issues are being worked out by Arrowhead Games as we speak. We expect more than several instances of the servers being temporarily down so that each of these issues can be addressed.
